Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), an Autonomous Educational Institution Under Department of Science, announces Admission to the following Programmes for the Academic Year 2009 - 2010

Application Forms:
  • · Admission to IIST is open only for Indian Nationals.

  • · Admission to IIST will be based on the ranks obtained by candidates in IIT-JEE 2009. The following candidates are eligible for online Registration :
    i) Candidates placed in the primary Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009.

    ii) The non-general candidates placed in the Extended Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009.

    iii) The General Candidates in the Extended Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009 whose ranks are less than or equal to E10000.

    iv) SC and ST candidates placed in the Preparatory List of IIT-JEE 2009.

  • An IIST Merit List will be drawn from the registered candidates placed in both Primary and extended Merit List (excluding those in the Primary List, who have been allocated seats in IITs and affiliated Institutions). Final allocation of seats will be done at the time of Personal Counselling, based on the IIST Merit List and availability of seats, course-wise and reservation category-wise.
  • IIST will follow the Reservation Policy of the Govt. as applicable to Institutions of Higher Learning.
  • All the candidates who join IIST for any of the B Tech programmes will be given an Assistanceship sufficient to cover the complete cost of education, boarding and lodging. In addition, each student will be given a Book Allowance amounting to Rs. 3000/- per semester. Payment of full Assistanceship is, however, subject to consistent academic performance during the course of study.
  • All candidates admitted to a B Tech Course in IIST will have to execute a bond to serve the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), if inducted, for a minimum continuous period of five years immediately after successful completion of the course. Absorption to ISRO will be subject to the induction criteria of ISRO, as applicable to students of IIST. A student of IIST must earn a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.5 within the stipulated period of four years to be eligible for absorption in ISRO as Scientist/Engineer.
  • All such candidates will have to execute a bond with IIST to serve Indian Space Research Organisation for a period of continuous five years on successful completion of the course. The bond paper for executing the bond will be made available at the time of counseling at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Admitted students are to abide with IIST rules.
Eligibility
· Admission to IIST is open only for Indian Nationals.

· Admission to IIST will be based on the ranks obtained by candidates in IIT-JEE 2009. The following candidates are eligible for online Registration :

i) Candidates placed in the primary Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009.

ii) The non-general candidates placed in the Extended Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009.

iii) The General Candidates in the Extended Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009 whose ranks are less than or equal to E10000.

iv) SC and ST placed in the Preparatory List of IIT-JEE 2009.

· Based on the online registration and in the order of merit, a combined list of students from the Regular Merit List and Extended list will be generated. Those who have accepted any programme in any of the IITs or the affiliated like IT BHU Varanasi, ISMU Dhanbad, etc will not be included in the IIST Merit List. Extant Reservation Policy of the Govt. as applicable to Institutions of Higher Learning will be followed.

· Allocation of seats will be based on Personal Counselling to be held on 20th & 21st July 2009 at Thiruvananthapuram.

Intake
· B.Tech in Avionics - 65 Seats

· B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering - 52 seats

· B.Tech in Physical Sciences - 39 seats

Admission process
· The admission to IIST for B.Tech in Avionics, Aerospace and Physical Sciences will be based on Personal Counselling on July 20th & 21st / second counselling on 8th August 2009 between 9.00am to 8.00pm at Thiruvananthapuram.

· Activities on Counselling Days:
1. Verification of X marks card for age proof.

2. Verification of Original XII marks card for successful completion of XII standard and other required testimonials in support of the claim of the candidate

3. Seat selection by the candidate.

4. Issue of seat selection certificate and Admit card.

· Execution of bond and admission will be on August 24th - 26th, 2009 at IIST Thiruvananthapuram.
